    Child Custody Investigation

A child custody investigation is an objective observation of a child’s well-being and treatment, usually as part of a divorce, separation, or custody case.

A typical investigation involves an investigator assessing the treatment of a child by his or her parents. The conclusion of the investigator is then reported to the court and used in custody evaluations. When going through a divorce, a child custody investigation will provide reliable evidence without the bias.

Though separations are never easy, child custody investigations aren’t always necessary, but you need an investigation if:

    • You are concerned about your child's safety. If you believe your spouse is unfit to care for your child for any reason, a private investigator can potentially prove your allegations with objective, legal evidence. In a divorce case, where tensions are high and accusations are made, hard evidence may be necessary to protect a child from an unhealthy environment. Ultimately, an investigator will work with you to keep your child away from an abusive situation.
    • You want peace of mind. If you are unsure if your spouse is fit to care for your child, an investigator can legally look into their background, habits, and parenting style in order to prove or disprove their ability to meet your child’s needs. Reliable evidence will not only stand up in court but will provide you the comfort of knowing your child is safe.
    • You have been falsely accused of abuse or neglect. Especially in court divorce cases, one parent will sometimes make false accusations in order to limit the other parent’s access to their child. A private investigator can gather evidence of proper conduct and ensure you adequate time with your child.
    • It’s required by law. Some states require a professional investigator to conduct these types of surveillance investigations.

    Cheating Spouse Investigation

The suspicion that your spouse may be cheating is a painful thought. Unfortunately, if you have a suspicion that your spouse is unfaithful, you may be right. According to statistics, wives who suspect their husbands of cheating are correct 85% of the time, while husbands who suspect their wives of cheating are correct 50% of the time. Therapist Peggy Vaughan's research has suggested that approximately 60% of men and 40% of women will cheat at least once in their marriage. Despite the prevalence of cheating, 70% of married women and 54% of married men do not know about their spouse's infidelity.

These statistics do not even include nontraditional forms of infidelity. It is estimated that 40 million Americans have virtual encounters of a sexual nature on the internet which many consider to be “emotional affairs”.

What are the common signs of a cheating spouse?

    1. Changes in intimacy: A distinct increase or decrease in intimacy, affection levels, and/or sexual preferences may indicate infidelity.
    2. Suspicious phone habits: A spouse that hides his or her phone or is secretive about their call logs and text messages may be cheating.
    3. Changes in appearance: A marked change in style of dress, intimate wear, and/or personal hygiene can be a clue.
    4. Suspicious internet use: Much like phone habits, a cheating spouse may be overly secretive when it comes to their browser history and general internet and computer habits.
    5. Changes in work routine: It may seem like a cliche but a husband or wife that suddenly needs to “work late” or “go to a conference” frequently is a sign of infidelity.
    6. Changes in bathing habits: A spouse that showers right when they get home, switches cologne or perfume, or changes their grooming habits can be a sign of cheating.

    Why hire a private investigator?

There are a variety of reasons why investigating infidelity on your own might not be the best option. For one, it can be both emotionally and physically draining. A well-trained private investigator will find more information in less time and will remain emotionally detached. The validity of evidence is also more concrete when gathered by an investigator. While an upset spouse may capture pictures or video of their cheating spouse, this evidence may not be considered valid by a court of law. A private investigator is unbiased and knowledgeable about family law so their proof will stand up in court.

What does an infidelity investigation entail?

Investigations will vary based on your needs and the private investigator conducting the investigation. However, many times an investigation to catch a cheating spouse will include:

    • Discussion with the client - Before an investigator begins their pursuit of the truth, they gather as much information as possible about the spouse in question, including regular activities and hobbies. Though it may be painful, the more information you share the more successful the investigation will be. For investigators, confidentiality and respect are standard.
    • Surveillance - A private investigator watches your spouse using advanced surveillance methods to ensure that you obtain the evidence you need. Some of these methods include tracking your spouse’s vehicle, searching their assets, and monitoring their internet activity.
    • Presentation of Evidence - Evidence gathered by a professional private investigator can not only give you peace of mind via indisputable proof but will also stand up in court for potential divorce settlements.

What should I expect from an infidelity investigation?

Investigations into cheating spouses can range from a couple hours to several months. Regardless of the length of time, when you go to see a private investigator about a cheating spouse you will be treated with discretion and respect. The investigator will listen to your suspicions, take them seriously, and will ask you how you want the investigation to be shaped. You will remain in control of how the investigation proceeds and your professional investigator will investigate your spouse on your terms until you are completely satisfied. You will be able to get regular updates about the status of the investigation and only you will get to decide what to do with the information that is gathered.

Some people seek help as soon as they feel some suspicion that their spouse is cheating. Knowing for certain is important to them before they confront their partner. Others know their spouse in unfaithful but want solid evidence. If worries about your spouse are affecting your relationship or causing you stress, speaking with a private investigator can help.

What do private investigators say are the most common signs of a cheating spouse?

When you suspect infidelity in your relationship it can be difficult to determine whether or not your suspicions are valid and if so, what to do next. At Polydien Investigations, we surveyed our network of trusted infidelity investigators to find out what, in their experience, are the common indications of infidelity in a relationship. The following graphic displays the six major signs of a cheating spouse, what to expect in an infidelity investigation and other statistics on infidelity and marriage.

Infidelity investigators noted six of the most common signs of cheating:

    Divorce Investigations

A divorce is officially defined as the dissolution of a marriage contracted between a man and a woman, by the judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, or by an act of the legislature. Any of the partners of a marriage can call for divorce but both parties must agree to completely nullify a marriage.

Divorce records are available as a part of the vital records information of each state. This should not be confused with an annulment, which declares the marriage completely null and void.

More than half of all legal marriage end in some type of dissolution or separation. Many of the cases a typical private investigator becomes involved with involve issues between married partners to some extent. Private eyes should have at least a basic understanding of the laws and issues related to matrimony, divorce and legal separation.

Divorce laws vary considerably around the world, but in most countries getting a divorce requires the sanction or approval of a court or other authority in a legal process.

The legal process for divorce may also involve issues of spousal support, child custody, child support, distribution of property and assets and the division of debt.

Where monogamy is law, divorce allows each former partner to marry another person. In areas where polygamy is legal, divorce allows the woman to marry another.

    Physical Abuse

We’ll start this section by making it clear if you have a case of Child Abuse or Spousal Abuse, including any domestic partner abuse, you should report it to authorities immediately.

Our Polydien Investigators can help if you believe local authorities aren’t being responsive or fully professional in the handling of your complaint.

    Child Abuse

This could include doubt of the competency or thoroughness of the assigned social worker. If you are in any way unsatisified with the authorities handling of your child’s case or your case, we can help.

We understand reporting directly to Law Enforcement may not be possible. If you are in a dangerous situation and you need help to get out of it, we will coordinate with local law enforcement to get you into a safe situation.

We urge caution in the method and timing of how you contact us. We can respond to you from a phone call, e-mail or a message submitted via our web contact form. Please ensure you uphold your safety above all else.

Polydien combines their background and experience as Licensed Professional Investigators to maximize the support we provide you as a client. We can take your abuse case and work it to a successful resolution.

We’ll help you through this dark time. Your safety and security are the most important aspects of these investigations and we’ll also keep every portion of the case confidential. We’ll conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts of the case and provide detailed evidence in our findings. As with any of our investigations, we’ll work to ensure the evidence collected in the case is admissible in civil and criminal proceedings.

A Child Abuse or Domestic Violence case is investigated in a similar manner to other cases we handle; however, no two cases are the same and no two types of investigations are the same.

The first step our investigators will take is to get a comprehensive picture of what is going on.

Once the investigator has all this information, they’ll ask some more questions and then may elect to interview any cooperative Witnesses to further develop the case file.

As the investigation moves forward, various types of Surveillance will likely become necessary. Traditional Surveillance, combined with Electronic Surveillance often produce the best results. Electronic Surveillance can be critical in abuse cases.

As we carry out the investigation, our team can coordinate with Law Enforcement as required. We may recommend you retain the services of an Attorney in order to ensure your interests are protected and all bases are covered.

    Home Security Surveys

A Residential Home Security Survey is an inspection of your home, performed by a Physical Security Specialist, in an effort to identify areas in which you could improve the physical security of your residence. It is also a good opportunity to review personal safety and security habits with an officer so that your daily routines incorporate habits to decrease the likelihood that you might be victimized by crime. The surveys are offered to Polydien Customers at a completely affordable rate, by appointment only. They generally take about an hour, and can be scheduled during evening hours.
